Welcome to Manish Holiday Cottage in Carbost on the Isle of Skye

We welcome you to the Isle of Skye and to Manish Holiday Cottage.

Loch Harport on the west coast of the Isle of Skye

Tranquil Loch Harport

Manish is a detached self catering bungalow situated on an 8 acre croft overlooking LOCH HARPORT on the approach to CARBOST on the West Coast of Skye. The location is near the junction leading into GLENBRITTLE, a haven for climbers and hill walkers. CARBOST is 18 miles from Portree and 45 minutes drive from the Skye Bridge.

The bungalow enjoys stunning views to the west of Loch Harport and south to the Cuillins. Summer sunsets and sunrises can be enjoyed from all areas of the house. There is access to the shore from the croft. Within the house grounds we provide guests with a large tarmac parking and turning area with censor lighting, and a patio area with seating overlooking Loch Harport. It is an ideal location for travelling to all parts of the island, and within 10 minutes drive of both Glenbrittle Beach and Talisker Beach.

The holiday home "Manish" lies approximately half a mile before the village of Carbost on an 8 acre croft which has been in the MacCaskill family for over 70 years. It was a working croft up until 20 years ago and is now used mainly for sheep grazing. The name "Manish" is from a village on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides, chosen because of the strong Harris links with the family.

Road to Talikser Bay

Manish is at the junction leading into GLENBRITTLE (10 minutes' drive) and the Cuillin Hills which boast eleven Munros along its ridge and mountaineers and hillwalkers experience some of the most challenging rock climbing in Europe. There are only a few sandy beaches to be found on Skye, the two main ones are within 10 minutes' drive of "Manish" and the first of these is in GLENBRITTLE where the sea looks over onto the inner islands of Rum, Cana Eigg and Muck.

The second Beach is in Talisker Bay: Leave "Manish" and turn right towards CARBOST, at the junction before you go down the hill to the village, fork left and follow the signs to Talisker. This beach looks over the Inner Hebrides towards Uist and Harris.

Drive the 8 miles towards Portnalong and as far as the road will take you to Fiscavaig. On a clear day you will see stunning views across the Minch to the Outer Hebrides, Uist and Harris.
